Since 1782, the Bald Eagle has been the national bird of the United States. It has long since symbolized America's patriotism and fight for truth, justice, and freedom.
Pulitzer Prize Winning Cartoonist Steven Breen created this Bald Eagle sharpening his talons directly after the September 11, 2001, World Trade Center attack. The icon became the mascot for the North Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force under the direction of then Special Agent in Charge, Danny Defenbaugh. Upon his retirement in April 2002, Danny contacted Mr. Breen advising him of the pride his eagle brought to the Task Force, which was the largest of its kind in the Nation, and requested permission to use the eagle for his business and on the cover of his forthcoming book. Mr. Breen responded immediately, graciously granting Danny permission to use the eagle to represent Defenbaugh & Associates, Inc.'s character. Mr. Breen's father was an FBI agent for 25 years, retiring as a supervisor in Long Beach, California.
